Beijing International Coin Expo

November 4-6, 2011

Overflow crowds made the 2011 Beijing International Coin Expo one of the most exciting coin shows of 2011. The China Gold Coin Inc. exhibit featured the 2012 Year of the Dragon coins, including the massive 10 kg. 100,000 Yuan gold Dragon with a mintage of just 18 (see picture below).

The Expo filled two floors of the China World Hotel convention center and included a very well-attended and exciting auction. The bidding was intense for the top coin: a serial #1 2006 10 kg gold Year of the Rat coin that brought more than $1.5 million (+6% buyer's commission). At least five bidders were still in the running when the price crossed the $1 million USD mark.

The 2011 ANA WORLD'S FAIR OF MONEY (August 16-20) was a great convention to find Chinese coins, meet people and see some spectacular exhibits - notably at Nick Brown's Majestic Rarities booth. More information about coin sales at the Show will appear in the next Panda Pricepedia.

Here are some photos from ANA National Money Show in Sacramento (March 15-17). While the weather was wet and cold outside there was plenty of heat generated on the convention floor. The public showed up in a big way on Saturday, March 17.
