any 1990's year except the 1998. The Chinese Mint chose to encapulate the 2000s, as well as seal them in a pouch, so many should be in excellent condition. In spite of that, copper spotted specimens are common; in fact, the 2000 is a very difficult date to find in spot-free condition. Zero of those sold at auction has been rated MS-69 by PCGS or NGC, although the grading service population survey shows a fair number receiving this grade. Two varieties of this year exist: the temple side can have either a frosty outer ring or a mirrored one. The mirror coins were reputedly struck at the Shanghai Mint.(back)
