have been five PCGS/NGC MS-69s offered over a 2 year time span. High grades may be a bit tougher to locate because some 1987s show a touch of rubbing on the Panda's forehead. The drinking Panda design is charming. There are two mintmarks available for this date: "S" (for the for Shanghai Mint) and "Y" (the Shenyang Mint). The "Y" coins are supposed to be scarcer and have a lower mintage, but at auction the two mintmarks turn up fairly evenly. (back)
